RetainSameConnection not respected

I'm trying to create an OleDBConnection with RetainSameConnection="true", but when checking the created connection in SSDT the property is set to false. So every time I regenerate my packages I have to manually fix the connection. Is there a known issue with this property? Using VS 2012 and BimlExpress 2018. Simplified sample code below.
